Average amount of energy we use

Believe it or not but every one of us in the developed world use around 50 000 Khw per year of energy, everything included (food, transport, entertainment, clothing, travel, etc...). If we had to produce this energy with slaves instead of through oil, coal and renewables, we would need around 100 slaves each!!

Situation in Afghanistan

Michael Yon has a very informative report about what is really happening on the ground in Afghanistan. It is in 3 parts but only the first 2 are available for now, here and here.

I think it is interesting because it gives us a very good idea of what the situation really is on the ground there and also what are the mistakes being made. Costly and stupid mistakes!
One more proof that the devil is in the details!

China has achieve (Cf here) a new milestone in its economic development when its total foreign exchange reserves reach $1 trillion!
